If you are buying a new range cooker you will be wondering what is the best cookware surface to use with it.
Electric ranges, in particular smooth top or ceramic top ranges need a different type of cookware to cook well and the surface reacts differently than a gas range. Do come along to our showroom and choose from our quality selection.
Things to consider
When purchasing a smooth top electric range you may need to also purchase new pots and pans. If you have aluminium or stainless steel they need to be completely smooth on the bottom and not warped. A warped pot doesn’t make good contact with the heating element and you will get uneven heat. Flat bottom pans including those without ridges is the best choice. In fact, any pan that is magnetic works best.
Types of cookware
Overall the best cookware to use on an electric range is stainless steel or medium weight aluminium. These are all more expensive lines of cookware and will not warp as easily or at all, which will keep the bottoms flat. Cast iron is also good if you are careful with its use and it is clad in another substance. A good example of this type of pan would be Le Creuset cookware. They are heavy so don’t bang them down on the stove top as it can cause it to crack. Copper bottom pans are also good but be sure to brush crumbs from the bottom of the pan as they tend to cause scratching when interacting with the bottom of a copper pot.
